It’s challenging to sleep early because there are a million others things needs to be done.
Watching my favorite show, finishing the laundry, unloading the dishwasher, picking up around the house, working late answering emails, reading an extra book or two for my little ones, running another mile on the treadmill… And took often I am guilty of doing these things too! But hey they aren’t all bad things.
But I’ve developed a route every night and repeatedly tell myself it’s ok if the skip my favorite show, I can always stream it later. My sleep is more important!
So many people ask me how do I do it?
Well I have 5 tips to help you get started:
1. Cut out caffeine a few hours before bedtime
I usually like to cut out caffeine by 2 PM
2. Allow yourself time to get ready for bed
Especially with children getting ready for bed isn’t quick. I give my little family and I 2 hours to get ready for bed.
- Brush teeth
- Bath time
- Get dressed
- Bedtime story
3. Limit yourself from screen time (TV or phone) usage an hour bed you head to bed
When it’s time to get ready for bed, that’s when we cut off the screen time.
4. You can spend some quiet time in bed
Do something you love, like reading your favorite novel, writing in your journal, or doing affirmations
5. Turn on my air purifiers
An air cleaner helps to prevent the accumulation of dust on surfaces and can also trap airborne mold spores, bacteria, viruses and even pet odors.
